Your reasons for divorce may be extensive or highly specific, but they will be required to fall under one of the following headings to qualify as official grounds for divorce:

Unreasonable Behaviour may be used as legal grounds for divorce in a variety of situations. Courts are generally lenient about what qualified as unreasonable behaviour; it could refer to anything from physical violence to poor financial planning. The only requirement is that you prove said behaviour has made it impossible for you to continue living with your spouse.

Adultery may be used as grounds for divorce only when you can prove in court that your partner has had consensual sex with another individual.

Desertion may be used as grounds for divorce if your spouse has been away from home for two years or more without your consent.

Separation for at least 2 years may be used as grounds for divorce only once the consent of your spouse has been secured.

Separation for at least five years may be used as grounds for divorce without the consent of your spouse.
