Chris graduated from Liverpool University in 1980 and then completed his studies at Chester College of Law. He joined Clough & Willis as a trainee solicitor in 1981 and qualified in 1983, becoming a partner 3 years later.
Chris has been a litigator for all his professional life. He is a personal injury specialist and has expertise in professional negligence claims and employment matters. He is a member of the Law Society Personal Injury Panel and holds Senior Litigator status with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). APIL is a specialist body whose members are personal injury specialists dedicated to excellent practice and to fighting for the rights of injured people.
Chris acts for people, locally and nationally, who have been injured in accidents, fighting to secure the compensation they deserve. He has a particular interest in work place accidents and the many complex health and safety regulations that apply in the work place. Chris believes passionately in an employer's duty to ensure the safety of its workers and recognises that some employers still do not take this duty seriously enough. Chris also specialises in acting for clients who have been injured in motor vehicle and road traffic accidents, slipping accidents, accidents whilst on holiday in the UK and abroad, accidents caused by animals and injuries from criminal assaults.
Chris recognises that accidents can wreck lives! Whilst some injuries are fortunately not too serious, others can be devastating. As well as acting for people with minor injuries Chris has dealt with claims involving catastrophic injuries and death.
Chris has dealt with professional negligence claims against solicitors, doctors, dentists, accountants, surveyors and other professionals. His approach is to find the quickest possible way to resolve such claims for his clients and that does not necessarily involve expensive court proceedings. Mediation and Joint Settlement Meetings are possible avenues which may achieve a better outcome for his clients.
In the field of employment law Chris has acted for both employers and employees in Tribunal cases and has advised employers on issues such as redundancy, terms of employment and dismissal.
It is important to have the best experts to help deal with claims properly and Chris has built up a network of specialist doctors, engineers, accountants, employment consultants and others who are experienced in providing reports and attending court to give evidence.
Married with six children, Chris is an avid football supporter who can be found on the terraces of a well known premiership team on a regular basis. He has a keen interest in amateur dramatics and is chair of governors at a local primary school.
