Business Rates - Revaluation 2010

The Valuation Office Agency (VOA) carries out a revaluation of all rateable values in England and Wales every 5 years, in order to maintain fairness within the rating system.

Owners and tenants of commercial property should be aware that the next revaluation is due to come into effect on 1 April 2010.

Frozen Out - Employment Law and the Big Freeze

Given the recent weather many employees have been unable to get to their place of work either as a result of transport problems or because of disruption to childcare arrangements.

With the exception of pay the employee should not suffer any other detriment. Dismissal of an employee by reason of taking such time off would be deemed automatically unfair.
