Head of private client at Clough & Willis dons wet suit for charity swim!

Helen Webster - head of the private client department at Clough & Willis, one of the North West's leading mid-sized legal firms - yesterday braved the rain and cold waters of Salford Quays to complete the British Gas Great Manchester Swim.

Helen, who joined Clough & Willis last year, completed the one mile course in an impressive 41 minutes and 52 seconds raising approximately £500 in aid of Forever Manchester - the community foundation for Greater Manchester. She was one of 3,000 swimmers and she was supported by a vocal group of colleagues and friends as well as her mum from the windy dock-side!  This is the second challenge Helen has taken on in the last couple of months after taking part in the Bupa Great Manchester Run back in May.

Earlier this year Clough & Willis announced that Forever Manchester was its Charity of the Year for 2012. The organisation provides wide ranging support to small community groups across the region and its focus is on helping bringing people together and making them feel better about where they live. More sporting challenges by employees of the firm, as well as community and corporate focussed events are planned for the rest of 2012.

There are 57 community foundations across the UK and Forever Manchester is the community foundation that represents Greater Manchester and it supports all ten boroughs: Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan. Forever Manchester has strong connections within each local community and so ensures donations are accurately targeted to achieve the biggest impact.

Helen said; ""The 10k was tough but this was a different kind of challenge. The cold water and rain were obviously a factor but it was well worth the effort and I am thrilled to have raised so much money for Forever Manchester. It made all the training worthwhile but now I'm planning a rest over the summer before deciding on my next event."

Shefali Talukdar - managing partner at Clough & Willis said; "The swim was a great event and it drew some large crowds which was brilliant to see. Helen was fantastic and we're all very proud of her.”

Clough & Willis has committed its fundraising monies to Forever Manchester until the end of December 2012.
