Employment Law Specialist Andrew Moore of Clough & Willis sees surge of enquiries from legal trainees

Andrew Moore, employment law specialist at Clough & Willis Solicitors in Bury has been inundated with enquiries from trainee solicitors across the North West and UK as law firms are feeling the impact of the recession and are looking to dismiss trainnees in cost cutting measures.

Andrew represented trainee Solicitor Iain Montgomery in a landmark case against his former employers who dismissed him without the agreement of the Solicitors Regulation Authority. The Sheffield Employment Tribunal earlier this year ruled that Mr Mongomery's former employer (a Manchester Solicitors firm) was in breach of the terms of a training contract when it dismissed the trainee solicitor in November 2007. Despite the huge publicity that this case recieved, employers are still failing to consult or follow advice given by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. This case is now being used as a modern precedent across tribunals as the Manchester Employment Tribunal had to refer to a case from 1860 to help them reach a conclusion in this matter.
