Bury solicitors Clough & Willis has been challenging the brain power of the local business community once again with its annual general knowledge quiz which took place on 11th March 2010. The event, which was held at Elton Vale Sports Club, was attended by some 22 teams from businesses including banks, accountants, surveyors and estate agents.
For over ten years, Clough & Willis - which deals with both professional and corporate clients across the North West - has been hosting the event as a thank you to the companies which it works with.
"The quiz is a hugely popular event locally,” commented managing partner Shefali Talukdar, who also set the questions. "So much so that we have to limit the number of teams sent by our business colleagues so everyone who wants to attend can do so.”
Questions this year included "What was Google's top search term for the year 2009? A; Michael Jackson” and "England have qualified for the 2010 world cup in South Africa, but who scored their final goal in the qualifying campaign? A Peter Crouch in the 3 - 0 win over Belarus”
More obscure questions which teased out the winners from the rest included "Percy LeBaron Spencer invented what in 1945 in USA? Microwave Oven”. The event was won by Baker Tilly's team after a tight fought contest!
Shefali concluded; "We were very pleased that so many people came and had a good time. The questions were hard - but there were plenty of laughs too”
